New Zealand: underwater, underground, in the air.

This journey has many perspectives: open sea, a cave, coastal cliffs and a view from an aircraft. My photographs and posts from autumn 2019 connect these experiences.

Kaikōura: dolphins in the open sea.

In my September 2019 post, I describe snorkelling with dolphins in the open sea at a water temperature of around ten degrees Celsius. The photographs show the animals underwater, our group in the sea and me in a wetsuit aboard the Dolphin Encounter boat.

A cave, 80 metres underground.

80 metres underground, with water up to my neck. That is how I described the cave excursion on 20 September 2019. With a helmet, headlamp and ropes, the route led between the rock walls. The pictures preserve this part of the journey: far from daylight and surrounded by water.

Long Beach, Queenstown and Taupō.

At Long Beach near Dunedin, I photographed the coast and cliffs and wrote about the view from above. In Queenstown, I visited the iFLY wind tunnel. The floatplane photographs and a picture wearing a headset in the cockpit come from Taupō.

By camper and ferry.

The camper was another part of the journey. My Wellington photo series shows the vehicle and the Interislander ferry. Skydive Auckland also appears in the October posts. The photographs describe different stages rather than a complete route log.
