Italy: sea views and ancient walls.

My Italy entries bring together different moments: a workspace by the sea, a self-portrait in Pompeii and impressions of Naples and Verona.

Sorrento: the view from the desk.

In August 2018 I show a workspace by a window, with the sea and boats beyond. The post names the Grand Hotel Riviera in Sorrento. Pictures like this also show how travel and working life sometimes come together.

Inside Pompeii’s amphitheatre.

That same month, I stand inside the stone amphitheatre at Pompeii. Behind me are the ancient walls, steps and open ground. My self-portrait preserves this moment of the Italian journey: one person in the picture, centuries of history around me.

Naples and Verona.

City and fountain photographs remain from Naples in 2018. An older image leads to Verona: an inscribed wall and a Romeo and Juliet motif. Sea views, ancient buildings and these smaller city scenes are part of my memories of Italy.
